Share Your Feedback in The Carpentries 2026 Community Survey
Last week, we launched The Carpentries 2026 Community Survey and invited community members to share feedback about their experiences in our community. If you have not yet completed the survey, there is still time to participate.
The survey helps us better understand how community members engage with The Carpentries, the benefits they receive from participating, and how the Core Team can better support our global community. The results will inform future planning and help us identify areas for improvement in programs, communications, resources, and community support.
We welcome feedback from all members of our community, including learners, Instructors, Trainers, Maintainers, workshop hosts, and anyone who participates in Carpentries activities.
The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete, depending on how much feedback you would like to provide.
Why We Conduct Community Surveys
Community surveys provide an important opportunity for us to listen to our community and understand how members experience The Carpentries. Our most recent survey was conducted in 2023 and received 200 responses.
The findings helped us better understand community demographics, participation patterns, motivations for engagement, the benefits community members receive, and areas where additional support was needed. The 2023 survey revealed that community members were primarily motivated to participate to serve and give back to the community, gain knowledge and skills, and contribute to a shared mission and set of values.
The findings from that survey were published in our Community Survey Evaluation Report and have helped inform the work of the Core Team over the past couple of years.
Next Steps
Once the survey closes on July 10th, responses will be analysed and summarised as public material describing the health of our community. As with previous surveys, individual responses will remain confidential, and results will be reported in aggregate. We encourage all community members to take a few minutes to share their experiences and perspectives.
